This time last year, I was asked to photograph food for Arugula’s new website. While I knew where Arugula was located (it was in the same spot my favorite baseball card shop was located, growing up), I had never been inside. I had heard some good reviews, but never took the time to investigate for myself. After listening to what Chefs Nick and Stefano were looking to do with their new menu and renovations, we set out a gameplan of a 2 part shoot. I was completely floored by what these two brothers were cooking. Not only did it look amazing, but it tasted even better. A few months after the shoot, I took my wife out for a date night (rare with the kid), and we chose Arugula. Nick had his rare night off, so Stefano was the main man in the kitchen. He treated us like *#*$# kings! Well, king and queen. The place is comfy, with a modern feel. There is the option to purchase wine, sponsdered by Auburn Road Vineyard and Winery. But, you can also BYO. Rather than choose from the menu, we gave some brief guidelines and let Stefano do his thing. It was the best meal I can remember! And, I’m rarely impressed going out. I mean, I like a lot of food- I’d eat just about anything. But, rarely do I walk away raving, excited to shout it to anyone that will listen. So, yeah- take the time to check it out. It’s a hidden gem, in the middle of Washington Township/Sewell.
Well, Chef Nick contacted me recently to do another series. They are opening for lunch and brunch, and he wants to get images up on his site. It prompted me to look at the last set of images, and I wanted to take the time to {finally} post and share them. These are some of my favorites. Majority of these images had the helping hand and eye of the talented Christopher Rocco. Thanks for taking the time.
