Chef Mike Stollenwerk and his creations

Years back, as I was trying to create photography into my full-time job I worked at various restaurants and met some really cool people who are still in my life, in some way. During one of these stops, I met Chef Mike Stollenwerk. Our work time was brief, but we connected a few times over the years. The last time I had seen him was probably about 10 years, or so, at one of his Philly restaurants. The food was amazing and I realized truly how gifted he was at his craft. Despite our lapse in correspondence, luck or fate would have it where I was assigned to photographed a restaurant in Haddonfield for South Jersey Magazine. At first I didn’t know that Chef Stollenwerk was the owner, I was just happy to be in downtown Haddonfield- the start of my photography career and just a great downtown vibe. Little Hen was the restaurant I was fortunate enough to photograph and reconnect with Chef and his partner and co-owner, Felice. The food was amazing, the little I sampled, but that wasn’t surprising. If you get a chance – I highly recommend checking it out.
What’s super cool is that he also owns another restaurant that is walking distance from Little Hen, called Two Fish. On top of that he also has his own line of seasonings available and I was able to photograph them. I also have had the luxury of getting some samples and they are amazing! 1627 Seasonings can be found on Amazon here: shorturl.at/DIJV7 . The 3 pictured here I’ve used a bunch over the past month and just love them! The French Fry Seasoning we’ve used on potatoes and perogies and was an excellent addition. The French 3 I’ve used in a quiche and on my eggs consistently, while the Everyday Season is self described and we’ve used it on everything. The line is pretty extensive and worth a look.
During these unprecedented time, small businesses are struggling. While I don’t know the ins&outs of Chef Stollenwerk’s biz, it’s something that needs to shared, experienced and supported. Since I’ve had first hand experience I wanted to help promote something great and remind people that every little ounce of support, promotion and dollar spent can mean much more for small businesses. So do yourself, or someone deserving, a favor and head over and pick up some of the spices or a gift card to a great meal and night out. I promise, you will not be disappointed.
