Clinton had planned an extravagant proposal, that included a hot air balloon ride. The trip was booked through Air Ventures Balloon Rides and took off from a private farm. It was a little different than most proposal sessions, where we get to play “detective” or “ninja” and have to gingerly document the moment, in order not to give it away prior, as this time I was able to document the take-off (prior to the proposal). I got just a few images prior to the balloon reaching a higher altitude and the balloon chasers telling me we have to go. We then trailed the balloon for the next 20 minutes or so, weaving in and out of the roads and town(s), until the balloon started to descend. I was told it wouldn’t touch down completely, so I was taking images of the balloon against the beautiful sky, and then it landed! I rushed over in order to not miss the moment of the proposal. Fortunately, it took a couple of minutes and a few people to wrangle the balloon, and allow Clinton and Grace out of the basket. Shortly after, Clinton dropped to a knee and popped the question! You can see one of the balloon strings behind them as he proposes. After being terrified of the balloon ride, Grace was then flush with the opposite intensity on the emotional scale! She said “yes!” and I was able to capture some images of them as the balloon was packed away. These were some of my favorites from the time I had with them.
