With the recent, unexpected passing of our kitty, Miss Fox, our minds have been on her often. Expecting to see her in her normal spots, waiting for her to hop onto the bed as we fit it with new sheets, jump in a box we just unpacked… While death is always hard, I tend to think there’s aspects of inspiration and, when the mindset allows, moments of celebration, even if just in conversation. Obviously, the absence is painful. But, when you get that little memory that makes you smile, or tear, that’s a healthy celebration. Today I was on a mission to find an image from 2011 and I stumbled upon a bunch of personal images that laid untouched. The first folder I opened up had these images of Fox in our backyard. She looks healthy and beautiful. I got a little teary at the first image, admiring her beauty and missing her, and then chuckled out loud as I clicked to the 2nd image, at her gnawing on the reed of grass. I wasn’t looking or expecting to find these images, but it was a pleasant surprise. I don’t want to inundate everyone with cat images, but I do want to share the beauty and the power of imagery and how documenting our lives can provide warmth in times where it may seem cold, and when we need it the most.
We miss you Miss Fox.
