The Dercole family

I am currently living in the same house my grandparents lived in as when I was growing up.  My childhood best friend, Mike, lived next door.  Since my family moved to NJ, and there was no Facebook back then, we just eventually lost touch- only seeing each other very randomly while he visited his parents at the same time I visited my grandparents.

One of the best aspects of now living in that same old house is that I’ve been able to re-connect with Mike.  His parents still living the next house over, while he lives about 10-15 min away.  I caught him on a visit to his parent’s and asked if he and his family (Kristen & Travis) would be into doing a photo shoot in my backyard.  Kristen about to give birth to their 2nd child, the playfulness of Travis, the vibrant color and abundant amount of  leaves; mixed with the odd (but cool!) realization that Mike and I were once again playing in the same backyard we did as kids– created a great recipe towards a successful {impromptu} session.

I wanted to capture the family enjoying the fall leaves with all of the different elements that their family and the environment offered.  There was great energy as mom & dad tossed leaves at Travis- making him wide eyed and playful.  It was really cool to see childhood best friend as a father and a husband.  He was awesome with Travis and tender towards Kristen.  It was an honoring realization.  These are some of my favorites:
